Chopping a 1932 Ford pick up

detail pic's from when Race and I chopped Lori's truck.
Took the roof off style, here's the back winda pics I found.
Lowered the window some..think it was lowered 1.5" and chopped 1.5"
And the truck was chopped 3" as I remember..

Frames Ahoy to Virginia

Robbie it's on the way today
Had it done Friday but too late for a east bound truck
Figured it was better sitting around here then on a freight dock

I forgot the dog bones !
the little spreader bars to bolt the spring on
simple as it gets.

Simple

Found this picture of a front end I did along time ago.
Guess what? It's still driving around and working properly
SB axle,1933 bones (yup 2" boss) 1948 brakes,1948 spindles

when good designs go bad

Look at this wondeful mess of a front end.

Lets see, main leaf only (it's not a mono) that touches the crossmember for 75% of its length
So it's trying to bend the ends of the spring.
But since it has coil overs mounted behind the axle maybe the thought was
it would act as a panhard bar?
Plate steering arms and heim ends (aka rose joint) on a rack/pinion
Sorry boys close but no cigar.

got this off tumblr, photo credit stumpphoto

Frames Ahoy

Oops missed a day of blogging
But Tom did come by and get his frame and parts
The 1927 roadster should be going together nicely

Didn't even get a picture of it

My next project

I want to build a rat rod out of a old Ford enclosed tractor..

And since it is so narrow,go for the street fuel altered look.
Can you see it?

Buck naked roadster body

Me? No. My body is more of a cross between truck driver and couch potato

The 1930 roadster I'm building is now bare steel
No surprises I knew the passengers door was pretty well toast

back home now.Holey firewall batman
looking like scrap at the blasters
time for me to do some metal finishing magic

Frames Ahoy

Corey come and get it !
Full roller bobber truck chassis 1940's Ford truck cab and bed..will follow the build

My dog ate a Hot Wheels and crapped this out

Oh fuck,rat rod
Can you spot all the horrible-ness that is in this picture?

The front sleeved hole is one of my favorite features...cus it's soo pretty
or maybe it's the 3/8 plate cross member that hangs down lower then the frame rails?
Nope it is how the 6" tall rails tie into the 3" main rails..

I don't normally try to bash anyone on my blog.Notice I didn't mention a name?
But I get asked "can you build one like this" and they think that is cool stuff.
If I stabbed my eyes out with a rusty screwdriver and was drunk and underwater
ahh never mind.
But guys read some other magazines besides "Crap Rods" and ugly Bettie's
The Ford I-beam axle front end is a thing of beauty and grace.
But there is engineering going on there, follow the basic design principles
and you will have a good handling safe fun hot rod to drive.

Have a look at this rear "suspension"
the lower bars are welded to the rear end !
(I won't mention the entire fuel line is rubber hose) oops
This thing can't even say articulate
I'd like to see it drive up a driveway at a angle
(I have seen it stuck on a parking lot crown)
If it wasn't for the rubber bushings in the coil over ends
it couldn't even move.
At least the pinion angle changes a lot ..gawd.

I think it looks polite.Know what I mean ?  Good job buddy !

The Colorado Kid's roadster

It's getting closer and closer
welding with short pants on.

Oklahoma outlaw mutha fawkers
needs the caps on..and windshield
bad shot, showing the true "lake pipes" under the rails..
